It\'s been given a nice respray later in life, and so today it strikes the right balance of a bright style that also won\'t make you nervous to drive this coupe (and as you dig into all the features, you realize this one was made for fun cruising.) This has all the best brightwork looking good, including the iconic chrome front end, golden details, and the full-length trim that shows off how good the sheet metal is. There are a ton of great details, like the factory wheel covers, dual exhaust tips, blue-dot taillights, and rear fender skirts. And not only does the white roof look great against the minty green, but also we bet this has you thinking about getting some wide whitewalls to match. The interior has received a good investment to maintain its vintage appeal. It starts with the seats. The green with coated fabric black inserts is correct, right down to the button-top trim. But everything feels fresher than 1957. Matching door panels, fresh carpeting, and a taut headliner are all part of the thoughtful investment. Even details like the steering wheel, bright dash, and working dome lights are all part of this vintage presentation. But this one also wants to be a great driver for modern times. That\'s why there are well-integrated upgrades like retro-style AM/FM digital tuner and cold-blowing air conditioning. It\'s nice to see this VC-code hardtop with a correct V8 under the hood. It goes for a touch of vintage with the orange block and matching Chevrolet script valve covers. The consignor believes it is the original 283 v8 that came with the car, but we are unable to verify that with 100% certainty. It\'s the kind of bright color that looks good on a 1950s machine, but you also know this was never a factory color. After all, this kind of metallic luster was reserved for custom-painted cruisers. And that\'s how to view this car. It has the right custom touchers and the kind of attitude/appearance that makes it a fun driver. After all, those 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels don\'t just look cool, but they also let you fit better tires. There are even fun details like the bow tires in the tail lights and polished dual exhaust tips. But the best piece that makes this a true cruiser are the classic pieces. The \'57 Bel Air gave us so many enduring details, the jet-inspired ornaments on the hood, the wide V under the Chevrolet badging, and the extra-long tailfin trim. And the way the bumper and grille are integrated in chrome is pure road art. It\'s all part of the look of a clean and attractive cruiser. The interior continues the custom cruiser feeling. The orange returns, and it\'s now joined by black for an attractive two-tone. We love how the seats have a hint of the classic Bel Air design but the velvet-like velour in a tuck-and-roll style pattern in pure classic boulevard-level elegance. The door panels were even done to match. Good carpeting, a nice headliner, and the sedan\'s space to spread out make this all quite inviting. The classic Bel Air steering wheel gives you the right grip for a fun classic. But there are also upgrades to tell you this one wants you to have fun in modern times. It\'s in well-integrated details like the retro-style AM/FM digital tuner with cassette and the full set of Classic Instruments readouts -- including the speedo and tach. The Tri-Five Chevy ignited our passion for small block Chevys, and so it\'s nice to see that kind of V8 power under the hood today. But as a true cruiser, this one is younger and larger than what the factory offered. This is a 350 cubic-inch crate V8 that is built to inhale deeper with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and an Edelbrock intake. It has the right supporting pieces like an aluminum radiator, an electric fan, and an electric choke. The V8 fires up readily, idles nicely, and makes a sweet tune out of the dual exhaust. It feels like a car that wants to hit the road -- especially when you add in the TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, power brakes, and front discs.
