1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 W-30 in Greenwood, IN

From our museum collection is this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Sports Coupe!! ! It is 1 of 262 W-30 Sport Coupes produced in 1970. It is a correct 455 block but not the vin stamped original block. The motor and transmission have been modified somewhat but are the correct combination that it came with when new. This W-30 has been in our museum for many years and has a very interesting history! It was drag raced from 1980-1985 in NHRA competition. The driver for some of it's drag races was legendary engine builder Joe Mondello contributor to the Oldsmobile W-30 program! It held the Division III NHRA D-Stock Automatic record from 1980-1982 then went bracket racing from 1983-85. It ran it's best time of 10.90 at 125 MPH there and was retired after the 1985 season. It has been restored back to it's original condition but still sports most of it's original interior. This W-30 represents an interesting piece of the best of the Oldsmobile muscle car era!! !

This is said to be a factory paint vehicle, and it has not only survived but thrived! So you\'ll love the brightness that comes from a paint name like Firethorn Metallic. And the straightness of the sheet metal and brightness of the chrome bumper is award-worthy. It\'s the kind of preservation you get on a low-mileage car. And since this is a well-respected three-owner coupe, it has been documented to show it has averaged under 450 miles annually. Adding to the elegance of this classic Olds are also the thoughtful details. The Super Stock wheels match the paint. The red half-vinyl roof is the kind of distinct yet harmonizing style that signaled an upper-class car in the 1970s. And the full-length black pinstripe is a nice preview of the interior. The black interior looks downright sporty against the red exterior. And just like the outside, it\'s exceptionally preserved inside. So there are nice details, like the smooth wood-like trim, working dome lights, and the insignia embossed in the folding center armrest. There are even red floormats waiting in the trunk if you want to have a nice coordination with the exterior. This has the size to seat up to six total, but the driver always feels like the priority. There\'s a classic Olds steering wheel, a tilt steering column, and the controls are all tilted towards the drive to make an easy reach to features like the heat/defrost, rear defogger, and classic Delco AM/FM stereo. Open the hood to see a very honest and clean engine bay. This is the numbers-matching 350 cubic-inch V8 with a four-barrel carb on top. The level of originality is seen everywhere, right down to the GM parts sticker on the factory air cleaner. But an affordable Olds like this is also the classic you want to drive. That\'s why you\'ll be happy that the V8 fires up easily and idles smoothly. Plus with features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a rear sway bar, this survivor is an easy choice for your anytime classic.
