Interior Color: Khaki Exterior Color: Dark Blue Description: 1937 Ford 74 Series Tudor SedanÂ The Ford Standard and Deluxe was a series of full size cars introduced for the 1937 model year. Â This family of cars was offered in a wide range of body styles such as coupe, convertible, two or four door sedan, and station wagon. Â Two engine options were available during production, the base 2.2L V8, and optional 3.6L V8 engine. Â The Deluxe variant was the high trimmed, and more luxurious version, while the Standard represented the base model. Â Over the course of production, Ford used Model \'X\' names to designate their higher output engine. Â Ex: The 1937 Model 74 featured the 60hp V8 engine. Â Tudor monarchs ruled the Kingdom of England and its realms, including their ancestral Wales and the Lordship of Ireland from 1485 until 1603. Â Henry Ford thought that was cool. It was a marketing ploy. For consignment, a barn find condition example of the 1937 Ford Tudor Series 74 sedan.Â This car will need extensive TLC mechanically as well as on the interior and exterior.Â A project for the experienced restorer and you will possess a great amalgamation of Art Deco and Art Nouveau styling from the pen of Edsel Ford.Â Â NO TITLE-SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE ONLY Exterior Bathed in dark blue paint, this steel paneled, rendered with a running board, (albeit them getting smaller by the year), humped back automobile is striking in its design.Â Rolling with teardrop headlights, a real nice vertical ribbed swept back V styled grille,Â small bumpers, and blackened window trim, it\'s all class.Â Also, one has to love the large V and the figure 8 within it.Â More vented airflow openings are on the side of the car\'s hood and are trimmed with chrome. Â Two doors and a rear seat, and of course the hump back trunk taking over from the nicely curved all steel roof. Â The paint is in poor condition with plenty of chip offs, some black primer areas, and spotty rust, some surface some invasive, mostly seen in the seams of the cars fenders and running boards, and where the bumpers mount to the car and run through the bodywork.Â Teardrop headlights mounted in curved wavy front fenders are a really striking feature of this car. Â Dog dish hubcaps are on white painted steel wheels wrapped with 6.50-16 ancient rubber black wall tires. Interior Tan mohair abounds on this interior where it can be seen on the door panels which are nearly rotted away, and large front curved split bench sitting in a mohair covered tub. Â An overstuffed rear couch if you will is in back.Â The mohair on these chairs has long since rotted away revealing the stuffing in areas. Â A dry rotted headliner is above and for the floors we see invasive rusted steel, surface rusted panels, and some holes that need attention.Â Above is the simple dash in all steel that retains the factory instrumentation, steering column, wheel, and signal switch but the remainder of inserts in this dash leave us with holes and missing doors. Â Some surface rust is also noted in this dash.Â The Art Deco stying is in the bones of this dash; it just needs to be brought back. Drivetrain A V8 with 136 cubes sits within a patina engine and rusted engine bay.Â Â A single 2-barrel carb and a 3-speed manual transmission are noted for the drivetrain and it uses a 4;.44 rear axle.Â This engine turns by hand but does not currently run. Undercarriage Extensive surface rust and some invasive rust is seen from head to toe. Â The floor pans have rusted through, the X frame seems to be unstable and will require further inspection and rockers and under fenders show some repairs and have some rust through.Â This car uses 4 wheel mechanical drum braking, and front and rear transverse leaf springs for the suspension all in need of restoration. Original looking exterior and an extensively damaged interior can all be brought back with the right talents. Â Once completed you will have a real stunner with its design and styling. And the nomenclature doesn\'t help as it\'s almost as if factory code names and numbers were adopted for model numbers and it\'s a bit like trying to decipher sparrows for new bird watchers, they all basically look the same. But there\'s no mistaking the 5 window coupe. It\'s the standout body style of the eight offered by Ford between 1937 and 1940. For consignment, an all steel street rodded 1938 Ford 48 Series that is good, basic, and bold. Once trending graphics are now considered retro and make a grand entrance to any car show or event. The interior has some modern touches that make for a comfortable ride with a vintage shell. Can you imagine waving to your neighbors from the driver\'s seat of this one? We sure can! Exterior We said bold, and bold it is! Silver metallic tops medium metallic blue in this two tone exterior that bisects the shoulder line and that split is emphasized by fuchsia colored graphics. It creates forward movement even when the car is parked and the incredible custom grille treatment to the side of the hood continues that forward flow. Teardrop headlights are sculpted into broad fenders which arch down to the running board that connects to the bulbous rear fenders. The painted windshield frame, rounded top, dual rear windows and even the trunk mounted brake light are in beautiful condition. Frenched taillights hover over enormous dual exhaust and flank a shaved trunk. 15-inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels carry staggered size tires for pure hot rod attitude. Imperfections include minor chips and cracks, and a more substantial bit of cracking near one of the door hinges. Interior Blue velour-like door panels contain real wood armrests and door pulls, a billet door actuator, a black plastic power window switch, and a modern speaker. So far, the interior is multi generational! The same blue velour covers the high backed sport bucket seats which have power and manual settings. The rear deck adopts the material as well and has another pair of speakers installed, all in great condition. A Lecarra 4-spoke steering wheel is on a modern tilt column that includes a billet shifter. The dash is a combination of silver paint from the exterior and stainless steel backing where white faced Vintage Reproduction gauges are housed. An AM/FM/CD radio is tidily tucked into the dash as well. Low pile plush blue carpet covers the floor while a gray velour headliner rises above your head and is in very nice condition. Drivetrain A 350ci is on board which our consignor states is a new crate motor. It\'s fed by an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and hooked up to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. A Ford 9 rear receives the spinning power and power brakes stop it, with disks in front and drums in the back. A ton of chrome and polished metals under the hood make it an absolute showpiece with flames engraved on the air element. Even the brake booster is chrome! Undercarriage Pretty straight forward underneath, clean and dry. Surface rust makes an appearance mostly reserved for untreated hardware and exhaust welds. The engine pans and flywheel cover are polished for a little bling underneath while the dual exhaust flows into a pair of Flowmaster mufflers before sending the rumble out the back. Independent suspension with coil springs are up front and leaf springs in the rear are noted. Drive-Ability The cloth seats provide a comfortable perch from which to pilot this \'38 and the split windshield provides good visibility. The engine starts right up, and the car sounds good as we cruise out onto the loop. With the long tapered nose leading the way, we test the functionality of gauges, lights, radio, and everything else.
