It was to become the most desirable Chevrolet model of the 1950's, offering a balance of style and luxury appointments unavailable in the base 150 & 210 series and offered in a wide range of body styles, including a convertible, Sport Coupe hardtop, two- and four-door sedans and four-door station wagons. As the American public began to prefer posh to economy, the Bel Air began to outsell the lesser series, including both 150 and 210 models. As a partial answer to this, Chevrolet re-introduced the Two-Ten Sport Coupe hardtop in the middle of the 1955 model year, and also added a four-door Two-Ten hardtop Sport Sedan for 1956. Neither achieved the sales of their Bel Air counterparts, however, even though they were only about $100 cheaper than the Bel Airs, which provided some more luxury and premium exterior trim. Today, the Bel Air series of Chevrolets from 1953 to 1957 are considered the most desirable models for collectors and well maintained and preserved models such as this particular example have the ultimate appeal, especially well built customs. Indeed there's no better example of GM's styling and engineering prowess in the fifties than these Chevrolet's. One of the USA's most recognized classic cars ever, the Chevrolet Bel Air was introduced in 1950 as a sporting 2 door Hardtop Coupe powered by a 6 cylinder engine and using a smooth Powerglide transmission. The Bel Air range was expanded in 1953 to sedans and a very desirable convertible and by 1954, a station wagon, the Nomad was added to the range of models. By 1955 a comprehensive restyling arrived at its definitive classic shape and the Bel Air was the flagship model of the entire Chevrolet division. This particular 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Door Sedan example was recently restored and customized with no expense spared, including the installation of a new 502 V8 crate motor with only some 17,725 miles on the build since its restoration. This is a phenomenally well built frame off rust free California custom which still holds true to its roots and which obviously sounds and drives absolutely magnificently - see the video on our You Tube Page on our website for visuals. In summary this must be one of the finest custom examples anywhere of a fully operational and turn-key customized 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Door Sedan with upgraded modern components yet which still has a classic original Bel Air look as well as all the modern day custom upgrades and technical advances and boasting a very desirable 502 V8 engine - a wonderful example of America's favorite 1950's classic car and a wonderful addition to any muscle car or custom hot rod enthusiasts collection! it has custom upper and lower tubular control arms with 4 wheel disc brakes.2 1/2 custom dual exhaust, lowered 2 inches front and rear, holly fuel injection, custom aluminum 4 core rad, fromt runner belt system, custom headers, aluminum intake, custom breather, custom transmission cooler.400 turbo transmission, just installed new torque thruat polished wheels and new tires, chrome exhaust tips, power windows, custom sterio with back up camera, all new chrome and s/s,1 bumper has a 1/2 chrome flaw a $500 fix, posi traction rear end, custom matching trunk to the interior, car has the dash signed by eddy money, the car would cost close to $100,000 to build, the man paid $60000 for it then traded it in,it is a true california rust free car look at the photos, its a story in itself, priced less than the buyer paid for it just months ago priced at $45000.
