Interior Color: Black Exterior Color: Tuxedo Black Description: 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS Hardtop The Impala was Chevrolet\'s most expensive passenger model through 1965 and was one of the best selling cars in North America at the time. It would remain as one of the top-selling mid-sized vehicles in the United States until the 1980s.  The full-size Chevrolets were completely restyled for 1963, featuring two crisply defined horizontal body-side character lines in place of the diagonal accents featured on 1962 models. These third-generation Impala\'s were built and designed on the GM B platform with styling changes coming in the form of more trim and a boxy style. The trim and treatment were similar to the contemporary Cadillac but emphasized the sheer length of the Impala. The similarities to Cadillac were attributed to Cadillac stylist Dave Holls, who stood in for Chevrolet Chief Designer Clare MacKichan while he recuperated from a road accident. The Impala models were very well equipped, vinyl upholstered, extra-thick foam seat cushions, paddle-type armrests with lift-up door releases, additional insulation, and a sport-style steering wheel.  The base six-cylinder, overhead-valve engine displaced 230ci and offered 140hp. Optional 327ci and 409ci V8 engines were available in various states of tune, with power ranging from 250 to 425hp. The Super Sport option came with bucket seats, center-shift console, and plush carpeting. In the back were twin sets of triple lights set upon a background of bright textured aluminum. They had full wheel covers, SS emblems, cove inserts, and either a Powerglide or four-speed manual transmission. Just 153,271 Chevrolet Impalas were fitted with the \'SS\' option, and around one-in-ten received the Turbo-Fire 409 engine.  Here in the corridors of the Classic Auto Mall we have all kinds of cars with all kinds of purposes. Some classics to be shown, others to be driven, and others to do both. Here we have a classic that exemplifies early muscle cars, it is to be driven and should be shown as well. A great paint job, a rebuilt dual quad equipped 400ci V8, a sinister black interior, the all important 3Z trim tag code, (that\'s the Super Sport package in case you were wondering), and you will be turning heads by leaps and bounds! Exterior The beneficiary of a full on restoration, but following the trim tag on the exterior, all the steel is draped in miles deep menacing Tuxedo Black, and clearly has been garage kept since. Some inclusions are also noted within the paint on the lower body panels, but again you have to look closely to really catch them. The only deviation from the factory is the addition of a low rise cowl induction hood, giving the competition a clue that this isn\'t your grandmother\'s Impala. From its chromed bezel dual headlight flanking an egg crate grille, and lower wrap around bumper, beautiful lower body line trim spear that runs the length of the car aft of the front wheels and the dual sets of three taillights within a machine turned aluminum field, and a chrome surround, and lower bumper. This car sports plenty of nice stainless and chrome to feast your eyes on. Wrap around chrome window surrounds,  Impala SS badging with the galloping impala in a circle, and the crossed flags badge on both front quarter panels shines brightly against its luxurious black paint. All lines and gaps on this car are laser straight, and it could have been just driven off the showroom floor back in 1963, this restoration is that good! Deep dish chrome laden 15-inch Chevy rally wheels with trim rings are wrapped with deeply treaded raised white letter BF Goodrich tires. Interior A swing of the door and we see a change from the factory red interior to a much appreciated black with tuck and roll black vinyl with tufted and buttoned inserts, shiny chrome for the cranks and actuators and a smooth black vinyl lower, and these are just the door panels. As we move inside, 2 nicely restored wide buckets also in door panel matching vinyl framed i

This Impala Coupe features Vintage Air air conditioning, tubular upper and lower control arms, lowering springs, KYB shocks, power rack & pinion steering rack, power front disc brakes, cold air intake system with reusable air filter, custom Pioneer audio system with CD player and enhanced speakers, tinted glass, tilt steering column, billet aluminum 3-spoke steering wheel with matching gray leather, custom finished interior and trunk, upgraded instrumentation with tachometer and digital odometer, electric clock, center console with cupholders, custom steel engine cover, under hood chrome components, and Foose chrome wheels with Nexen tires measuring 245/40R18 in the front and 275/40R20 in the rear. This restoration began several years ago in a very methodical fashion by the former owner with overzealous expectations and a keen eye for detail! This Impala received a very impressive paint job, fully custom interior, trunk, and engine compartments! Lots of man hours involved and truly the results that come with the labor of love and a healthy wallet! As the project was finally nearing final completion, health complications prohibited it from coming to fruition. Unfortunately, it sat awaiting its first voyage on the road. Upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum & Sales, servicing included a new cold air intake housing to accommodate a proper mass air flow sensor, along with a new throttle position sensor, temperature sensor, and an LT1 ECU computer tune to factory stock specifications; new spark plugs, distributor cap & rotor; oil & filter change; new fuel filter, fuel tank sending unit; pinion seal, differential gasket kit; new front end tubular Global West upper & lower control arms along with fresh bushings with Hyperco lowering springs to properly perform a 4-wheel alignment; new clutch master cylinder, one rear brake drum with wheel cylinder, and service of the air conditioning system were the only items necessary to bring this outstanding Impala to outstanding roadworthy status! It performs wonderfully with throaty exhaust note exiting just forward the rear wheels, and shifting thru the gears as a 3-pedal car is a special treat not often found on customs these days! Showing only 25 miles on the odometer, this retromodded Impala is ready to steal the show and provide a very enjoyable cruise around town.
