It was not uncommon to snag one of these examples, and with a need for speed modify it for the strip. Since the invention of the automobile, some tinkerer, shade tree mechanic, or custom shop has been trying to make it go faster. This 1970 C3 fiberglass shark styled body Corvette is up for consignment and deserves a serious look. With this car is a coupe sporting removable roof panels, as well a 350ci V8 and 4 speed. We could call it a high performance small block much like a welterweight fighter, quick, powerful, reasonably light, highly durable, and brutally effective. Exterior This shark, with its chromed bumpers and lower chromed egg crate grille is in the sweet spot of the C3 years. Just prior to the performance killing EPA emissions add ons, and still enjoying chrome, the remainder of the body in fiberglass is Corvette Marlboro Maroon. It\'s a respray, and it remains shiny, and presents overall in good condition with a few chip offs and some cracking of the paint in numerous areas, (How \'bout that Cowboy??!). Badged as Stingray complete with front quarter gills, chromed mirrors on the doors, chromed window surrounds, and the dual rear bumpers split for the license plate, all chrome is in good condition. Removable body colored roof panels make up the t-top roof and when removed show a chrome bar splitting the openings. Upon further inspection we noticed invasive rust on the passengers A-pillar which leads to the question of structural integrity of the birdcage. 15-inch rally wheels are all around with deep dish trim rings and good rubber wrapping them. Bringing up the rear are rectangular chrome tailpipe covers which work their way through the cutouts at the rear roll panel and are surrounded by shiny bezels, just like the rocker trimmings, which are stainless steel. Rolling artwork if you will. Interior A swing of the sculpted doors and we see black vinyl styled door panels which present nicely with just a few minimal faults and the right amount of age wear. Inside are shiny styled high back buckets in black vinyl with knitted tuck and roll inserts and a smooth exterior bolster. Racing to the front of the car from the back of the passenger compartment is a black center console where we note the handbrake, chrome shifter, and climate control dials and sliding fan speed levers. Moving upward an aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette radio and just above a series of 5 essential round gauges and warning lights that serves as your monitoring station as you jet along the highway. The driver\'s front shows in the padded black looking good and has deep inset round gauges and vents behind the original steering wheel. Behind the buckets is a large storage area in black carpet well preserved as is the carpeting under the passenger\'s feet, all this in black color as well. Drivetrain Lifting open the reverse hinged hood we are met with a 350ci V8 circa 1979 dressed to the nines with red translucent painted Moroso valve covers and air cleaner assembly. Lurking under the tall air cleaner is a Holley 4bbl carburetor that is bolted to an aluminum intake manifold. An original numbers matching Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission is on board and this throws power rearward to a CAO coded 3.70 posi-traction rear. Undercarriage Underneath is very well preserved with just a slight patina of surface rust on some of the metal parts, but solid steel and fiberglass mounted to it. Independent front coil spring suspension works with a frame anchored rear differential with independent arms and a transverse leaf spring for the rear. We see power discs for all 4 corners. Interior Color: Red Exterior Color: Monza Red Description: 1970 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Say Corvette and immediately one harkens back to the 1960\'s and 1970\'s when the Corvette was in its heyday with design, and power going through several iterations. It was not uncommon to snag one of these examples, and with a need for speed modify it for the strip. Since the invention of the automobile, some tinkerer, shade tree mechanic, or custom shop has been trying to make it go faster. This 1970 C3 fiberglass shark styled body Corvette is up for consignment and deserves a serious look. With this car sporting the convertible, as well as a 350ci mill with tuned-port injection, we could call it a high performance small block much like a welterweight fighter, quick, powerful, reasonably light, highly durable, and brutally effective. Exterior This shark with its chromed bumpers and lower chromed egg crate grille is in the sweet spot of the C3 years. Just prior to the performance killing EPA emissions add-ons, and still enjoying chrome, the remainder of the body in fiberglass is a hue of Corvette Monza Red. Not overly glossy, the paint presents overall in good condition with a few chips, scratches and bubbling in numerous areas.  Pinstriping has a strong presence on each panel of the car and the silver gills are highlighted by their contrast.  The coveted scripted Stingray is on the front fenders while the mirror on the door, (driver\'s side only), window surrounds, and the bumpers aft and rear are chrome and in fine condition.  The white canvas convertible top shows some age and a small tear was noted; the rear plastic window is ever so slightly fogged due to age. A body-colored hardtop comes with the car. 15-inch Cragar SS wheels are all around wrapped with 225/70/15 tires. Bringing up the rear are downward turned tailpipes in shiny chrome. Interior A swing of the sculpted doors and we see red styled door panels which present nicely. Inside are red leather high back buckets with white tuck and roll inserts.  The dash, center console, steering wheel and carpet are red....Prince would be proud! A gauge cluster housed in black paint occupies the center tower and wood applique surrounds the automatic shifter...it\'s in fine, driver-quality condition. A radio, much later than 1970, is also present in the middle.  In lieu of a glove box, document pockets sit in front of the passenger.  Behind the buckets is a large, carpeted storage area in...yep...red carpet well preserved and topped by two external speakers.   Drivetrain The car is equipped with a consignor stated 1988 350ci V8 with Tuned-Port Injection...so when you pop the hood, a few jaws might drop as the flat, piped intake grabs your eyes...a more modern transplant in a vintage Vette...we\'re talking inklings of an old-school resto-mod! A 4-speed 700R4 automatic backs the engine and sends the spin back to a 3.70 Positraction rear. Undercarriage Underneath is very well preserved with just a slight patina on some of the metal parts, but solid steel and fiberglass mounted to it. Some suspension parts and exhaust have surface rust but overall, the underside is relatively clean.  C3 independent suspension all around and power discs for all 4 corners. A clean dual exhaust snakes its way rearward from the mill intersected only by stock style mufflers. Drive-Ability Baby, you\'re much too fast, yes you are.....  The TPI 350 cuber is right at home in this vintage Vette and provides plenty of power with all the grunt and torque of a C4. Great acceleration, sports-car ride, good handling and straight bias free braking. The wide and low stance of the car...with legs stretched out in front you...is reminiscent of a race car and the well-bolstered seats add to the illusion.  We noted that the AC was blowing warm, (fitting with no lines attached to the compressor), and the power antenna did not rise to the occasion.    We hope you don\'t think driver quality is a bad connotation...it\'s not. While some

Just prior to the performance killing EPA emissions add ons, and still enjoying chrome, the remainder of the body in fiberglass is Ruby Red Pearl. It\'s a respray, and remains shiny, and presents overall in good condition with a few inclusions and some light orange peel areas (How \'bout that Cowboy??!). Badged as Stingray complete with front quarter gills, a chromed mirror on the driver\'s door, chromed window surrounds, and the dual rear bumpers split for the license plate, all chrome is in good condition. Hidden headlights and the flying buttress B pillars framing the rear glass which is truly vertical. This car has all the good design features prior to them going away. Call me a purist but the new ones just look like every other European car out there, Ferrari Shemarri. These older Vette have serious brio. 15-inch rally wheels are all around with deep dish trim rings and good rubber wrapping them. Bringing up the rear are rectangular chrome tailpipe covers which work their way through the bodywork at the rear roll panel and are surrounded by shiny bezels, just like the rocker trimmings, which are stainless steel. A rolling sculpture if you will, all in fabulous Coke bottle style. Interior A swing of the sculpted doors and we see black styled door panels which present nicely with their wood inserts which is a touch of class. Inside are shiny, sleek styled high back buckets in black vinyl, with a tuck and roll insert with smooth exterior bolsters. Racing to the front of the car from the back of the passenger compartment is a black vinyl center console. Here we note the handbrake, shift lever, climate control dials and sliding fan speed levers. Moving upward an aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette radio and just above a series of 5 essential round gauges and warning lights that serves as your monitoring station as you jet along the highway. The drivers dash front shows in the padded black vinyl looking good and has deep inset round gauges and eyeball vents behind the original steering wheel. Behind the buckets is a large carpeted storage area in black carpet well preserved as is the carpeting under the cockpit occupants feet, all this in a black colorway. Drivetrain This car has its numbers matching 350ci V8 LT1 complete with the correct Holley 4-barrel carb, ( from MFG date Feb 6, 1970) and correct LT-1 intake manifold. An original numbers matching Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission is on board and this throws power rearward to a 3.55 consigner stated ratio rear from 1969. All nice and clean in the bay with no corrosion, no rust, and just beautifully preserved components and bolt ons. A chromed open air cleaner is on top and is faultless. I used it to comb my hair and check my teeth, trust me!
