Not quite sure you\'ve even seen this car before? Well, there\'s a good reason. This isn\'t as much a Mercury Meteor as it is a Meteor sold through Mercury dealerships. Much like GM\'s pre-war sub-brands where Cadillac had Lasalle and Oakland had Pontiac, Canadian Mercury dealers had Meteors to sell. So when you are looking at a short-lived sub-brand made exclusively for Canada, you can start to understand the level of rarity here. The full story on a car like this is that it shares much of the styling with the Ford Tudor to give Mercury a bit more of a mainstream offering because often at this time there would be a Mercury dealer in town but not a Ford one. Still, the Meteor kept the more unique and premium Mercury style in key places like the front bumper and grille. This car has the right vintage look with the maroon main color, white roof, full-length trim, and chrome bumpers all looking complete with just the right amount of maturity. But you\'ll also notice a light metallic in the maroon. It\'s part of the right hot rod feeling in this car. After all, the \'50 Ford loves some street machine style, and so this one gets the right period-correct updates, too. The half-chrome headlights, windshield sunshade, dual spotlights, blue-dot tail lights, and dual exhaust tips are classic Ford V8 fun. And while there are plenty of upgraded details, we also like how much this one appreciates its rare vintage style. You see it in the details, like the distinct Meteor rear badge and correct Meteor hub caps. The interior has even more pure classic charm. The two rows of bench seats with striped cloth upholstery are a great vintage Ford piece. The clean dash, detailed door panels, and large ivory steering wheel are all part of this time capsule feeling. So while you may decide to update some things, we already like it because this is for lovers of vintage details. It gives you everything from the working dome light to a working AM radio. Under the hood is Ford\'s famous flathead V8. This 239 cubic-inch version seems like the right one here because, just like this Meteor, it also shares a history with both Ford and Mercury. It\'s all about having a tidy and vintage style. This V8 fires up nicely, and the dual exhaust gives you a good flathead tune. Plus, the column-shifted three-speed manual transmission lets you control that soundtrack and the V8 power. The sale comes complete with an owner\'s manual and service manuals.
