Interior Color: Gray Exterior Color: Bright Red Description: 1959 Chevrolet Apache 3100 Pickup With dual headlights and a distinct, bold bumper and grille, the Apache adorned a commanding presence on the road. Chevrolet was carefully catering to the market demand for trucks and the diverse audience that would be using them. The first iteration was a stepside which appealed to the tradesmen and farm population, but soon after the Fleetside was created to address the stylistic leanings of a growing suburban population. For consignment, a beautiful \'59 Chevy Apache that\'s been restored, and in some ways modernized for a reliable, fast, and fun ride. It\'s got the heart of a sports car and soul of a work truck and the only thing this truck will be picking up is the adoring glances of show goers and judges. Exterior Fantastic Bright Red paint dominates the truck which is adorned with bright metalwork, chrome bumpers and the tell-tale fender spears which tell the world what they\'re looking at. The spears are mimicked in shape on the bed where a long, chrome lined spear points forward. Above it, Fleetside is displayed in classic script font. A curving vertical windshield fronts a forward leaning cab, capped by a body colored visor. The truck sits low on 15-inch American Racing chrome wheels and the raised white lettering on the tires are a good fit. LED lights hide behind the round tail light lenses, while dual chrome tips aren\'t hiding from anyone below the bumper. The paint, metal, panel gaps, and wood lined bed are very nice on this truck, but we note a few inclusion in the paint. Now, let\'s step inside. Interior The inside of the doors carry over the body color with a panel of soft, textured cloth that houses the door pull, actuator, and window crank. Modern bucket seats in gray cloth have attached armrests and headrests. The familiar 4 spoke steering wheel out of an S10 shares the red column with the shifter. A Dakota Digital diamond shaped gauge cluster is in front of the driver, providing information via blue digital readouts. The dash itself is painted red and is home to a JVC AM/FM/Cassette player and vent controls backed by a metal plate. The Chevrolet branded center console is a 60s/70s era truck piece and fits just right. Low pile black carpet is in good condition and protected by Heartbeat Of America rubber mats. The headliner in rubberized vinyl is in great condition. Drivetrain Fast forward a few decades as we find a 5.7 liter LT-1 engine adorned with Corvette intake dress up plates and polished valve covers. Braided hoses and coated headers further fancy up the engine bay. It\'s fuel injected and connected to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to the 12 bolt rear with 3.73 conventional gears. All that power is reigned in with power assisted brakes, disc in front, drum in rear. Undercarriage A bit better than driver quality underneath, it\'s clean and organized. The dual exhaust comes off the headers and meets FlowMaster mufflers midway down, then makes a beeline for the back. No surface rust to speak of and no build of grime so often seen around inner wheel parts. A spare tire is mounted underneath towards the tailgate for easy accessibility. We note some oil on the rear differential and some residual oil on the flywheel cover. A Fatman Mustang II suspension has been added upfront while leaf springs handle the back. Drive-Ability If not for that bulging hood and wide fenders it feels otherwise like a roomy S10 on the inside. Comfortable seats, a familiar steering wheel, and a space age dash make the interior a nice place to be and fuel injection means we turn the key, and the truck starts. Glorious notes sounded off from the exhaust as we rolled this cruiser out on the loop and it is there where we add this one to our fantasy wish list, an endless list of all the cars we test that we would gladly buy if time, money and space were not of concern.
