What a crime to waste it on children.. It was the car to have it you were seeking the fountain of youth. The 1966 Ford Mustang was the car to have if you were looking to win over your neighbor or hit the road for fun and adventure. It was also a must-have for enthusiastic drivers and car enthusiasts who simply liked to drive. For consignment, a 1966 Ford Mustang convertible purchased by our consignor in 2003 as a present for his wife\'s 45th birthday. This car has a mere 29,503 miles on the odometer and this count is backed up by the title, was formerly restored in the 80\'s and used as a daily driver in the 90\'s and even has its original build sheet. Now fully restored with factory creature comforts such as Ford power steering, a power brake booster, some GT dress ups, and spinner hubcaps, it is all looking just fine with this consignment, a very stellar example of what the allure of owning a Mustang was in 1966. Exterior The prancing horse works its way across the front egg crate grille and is flanked by chrome spears and GT equipment foglights, which presents nearly perfect. On either corner upfront, a single headlight is recessed into the finned panels directly next to the grille and the body matching headlight bezel. Just below a simple chromed shiny bumper is attached, and below this is another body matching panel with round signal lights and a license plate holder. Meanwhile FORD badging races across the hood which goes rearward all the while being flanked by the front quarters with their badging just behind the wheel well. For the well minded gapped doors, the beginnings of the hockey stick cove which ends in an angled contour on the front of the rear quarter, and now you can see why it is called the hockey stock cove! For this consignment, Wimbledon White in very good condition, but showing color mismatching, covers the steel panels which are rust free. On top is a nice white vinyl top, and surrounding windows sport nice trimmings. The top has light soiling and a slit in the rear center above the fogged plastic rear window. Our consignor notes that a new replacement plastic rear window is included with the purchase. For the back, the iconic dual trios of outward V shaped tail lights with nice bezels between each V, a centrally located GT badged gas cap, and dual trumpet exhaust tips poking from the rear valance. Mustang wheels with those spinner hub caps along with a black rocker stripe off the bottom of this breath of spring air car. Interior Looking inside the black color luxury vinyl is in full bloom here, with said material on the door panels, seats, and headliner. All surfaces present well with some possibly being original to the car. Seats have tuck and roll inserts along with the Pony Package upholstery, (Luxury Interior Package), and smooth surrounding bolsters. Upfront an original dash is seen in black and in true Mustang form, rounded gauges with shiny chrome bezels and wood appliqué backdrop, which are in panels created by the dual curved padded black dash top. In the center is a radio and the temp sliders. Black carpet floods the floors and has the simple T style shift lever in the middle of the hump within the long and racing ribbed aluminum console that raises up to meet the dash. A shout out to the trunk, where we can see some nice plaid vinyl covering the interior of the trunk floor, complete with spare tire and jack setup. All fairly clean and presenting much like the original for the overall interior. Drivetrain The original 289ci V8 takes root under the hood and is in a nice engine bay which presents clean with supple wires and hoses with no cracks. This mill was rebuilt during the restoration and has been bored .030 over and has a 4bbl carburetor on
