Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is excited to present this stunning 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Convertible! This Oldsmobile has had the rare instance of being owned by the same family for the last 50+ years, and they have decided it is time to send it to a new home. The 1972 Old 442's were the last of a dying breed of American muscle cars, with the rising costs to insure them as well as the Governments stifling grip on emissions, and have come to represent a bygone era. Powered by a balanced & blueprinted "Rocket 350" and teamed up to a TH350 transmission, this 442 convertible is ready for the open roads. In 1972, the "442" badging was applied as an appearance & handling package, which carried a sticker price of $29, consisted of the "FE2" suspension upgrades (heavy duty springs & shocks, front and rear sway bars, boxed lower rear control arms, and 14x7" wheels), side striping, fender and decklid badging, faux hood louvers, and a unique grille. This particular 442 underwent an extensive restoration in 1986 and was repainted again in 2004, and has had some other upgrades like new canvas on the power top, upgraded suspension components including coil-overs and other various items. The power interior option on the 442's were extensive and include a power top, AM/FM/8 Track, power windows & door locks, power seats, power brakes, power steering, tilt steering and cruise control. (This is a factory A/C car, however the original compressor is not blowing cold). With only 928 total 1972 Olds Cutlass 442 convertibles ever produced, these are truly a piece of American automotive history that will certainly only increase in value!
