Volkswagen Beetle Manual

Interior Color: Black Exterior Color: Black Description: 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible Hippie, also spelled hippy, during the 1960s and 1970s of a countercultural movement that rejected the morals of mainstream American life. The movement originated on college campuses in the United States, although it spread to other countries, including Canada and Britain. The name derived from hip, a term applied to the Beat poets of the 1950s, such as Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, who were generally considered to be the precursors of hippies. Although the movement arose in part as opposition to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War (1955–75), hippies were often not directly engaged in politics, as opposed to their activist counterparts known as Yippies (Youth International Party). In 1979, Volkswagen announced it would be ending production of the Beetle to make way for a more modernly styled and engineered vehicle. The final cars were all Cabriolets, the last one rolling off the assembly line in January of 1980, but during the 1979 model year Volkswagen produced 900 Special Edition Super Beetles called the Epilogue Edition. Fittingly painted in black with a black interior and top, the special edition Beetle featured a burled wood dashboard applique and the Bosch fuel injected 1,585cc flat 4-cylinder engine. Now gracing the South Mallway of our Hallowed Halls, this 41,601 title verified miles car can be driven anywhere thanks to recent service and you could even press it into parade duty, thanks to the new running boards, clean 20 year old respray, and tear free interior or just enjoy a Sunday drive in the country, top-down wind in your hair and smile on your face. Exterior All curved steel panels on this bug are rust free and have survived time with the current consignor, which remains nice and shiny despite being a 20 year old respray of the factory black. Standard flare out fenders with chrome trimmed headlights on front, the curved hood/trunk lid upfront and the recently installed new running boards which have become synonymous with the V-dub. On the back we have the elephant footprint tail lights flanking the engine bay hood. A new black canvas top is well insulated with a white headliner and comes with a new black boot cover, and looks great in its clean canvas and defogger equipped glass window presentation. On each end, 2 nicely curved mirror-like chrome bumpers with a center rubber strip protect the front and rear. Recently refurbished and repainted Lemmerz 15-inch steel wheels are wrapped with like new blackwall rubber on all 4 corners. Interior All black, all vinyl, and all nice from door panels to seats, the black is beautifully preserved with no marks or tears, just good padded buckets upfront, and a bench in back. Black carpet covers the floors underneath with new rubber floor mats and looking to the front and we have the black padded dash with its single bump up where the gauge cluster is housed. Just below is a strip of burl appliqué where the clock, and various toggles as well as the factory AM/FM radio is housed. Keep it simple, because it works for 50 plus years! Drivetrain The engine sits in the rear engine bay and has the look of a well kept and maintained original engine. It is a 1,585cc 4-cylinder fed by Bosch L-Jetronic electronic fuel injection, and a 4-speed manual transmission. A 3.875 geared axle puts the power to the rear wheels. Our consignor notes that a recent tune up was performed to keep things running tip top. Undercarriage Some very slight surface rust on the rear suspension and structure, but all is structurally sound. The floor pan tubs in the middle of the car are coated in black rustproofing, and we note a repair on the rear passengers flooring with a small area of invasive rust that was missed. The front suspension matches the rear as to patina and surface rust. MacPherson struts are the front suspension, and the rear includes a semi trailing arm and torsion bar setup. Drum brakes are on all 4 corners

FOR SALE: 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle $59,995 USD

Volkswagen Beetle Manual

Engine: 1600 CC Transmission: Manual Interior Color: Black Exterior Color: Silver Description: This 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible is an exceptionally preserved example of the final-year Bug. In fact, this one has a very cool story about being stored by the original dealer and kept by the original family until 2021. So if you\'re looking for a fantastic time capsule VW, this is likely the closest to factory fresh as you\'re going to get. Morgensen Motors has a long history of being in the heart of Phoenix, and its proprietor was a true car fan. While Dick Morgensen will be remembered for building his own specialty racers, he loved his everyday cars, too. And this Super Beetle is proof. It was the final model year of the car that established VW and won over the whole world. So Dick stashed it away, and it remained a brand new time capsule for decades. The car then went to his daughter, who resurrected it from its slumber about a dozen years ago. The silver paint appears to be the full original application, and it retains a great level of shine. The trim, window rubber, sport wheels, and almost every detail look like you are picking this up practically brand new from Morgensen Motors 42 years ago. You\'ll have to search for the few signs of earned patina, and those are the ones you\'ll love to point out since it\'s what tell this car\'s unique story. The black convertible top has a tastefully coordinating style with the silver paint, and when you take it down, there is an equally attractive black interior. Volkswagen treated these last few Beetle convertibles as premium machines, so you got plenty of features, including the wood appearance package on the dash and a rear window defogger. The Wolfsburg crest steering wheel still feels grippy in your hands, and the four-speed stick shift is in the ideal VW placement. So it\'s pure nostalgia from the driver\'s seat. The engine bay continues the car\'s outstanding stock style. This 1600cc motor was the largest of the series. The twin-port fuel-injected example seen here was the final evolution of the Beetle. But the best part is that while this car is a time capsule, we have suitable records to show how this was resurrected correctly and maintained over the years. We have a receipt documenting $1300 spent in 2021 for work on the fuel system/tank, new fuel pump, all fuel hoses, and replacement injector hoses. So while you\'ll love how the undercarriage photos show off an originality that even likely includes Wolfsburg factory stampings, this convertible has also been kept in ready-to-run condition. Not only does this car have a terrific story, but it also has the paperwork to tell it properly, such as a copy of the dealership\'s invoice from Volkswagen. Plus, you also have maintenance records and service manuals. Cars this special hardly ever come up for sale, so if you want to own a legacy with true pedigree, call today!

FOR SALE: 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle $23,995 USD

Volkswagen Beetle Manual

Engine: 1600 CC Transmission: Manual Interior Color: Black Exterior Color: Black Description: This 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible has a cool color combo and some even cool subtle upgrades. It makes for an affordable drop-top that\'s perfect for hitting the road. This was the final year the original and iconic Beetle was offered in the USA, and it was only in convertible form. And it also seems to get better when you get one done in the ultra-desirable triple-black. The overall impression you\'ll get from this VW is that it\'s a great car to enjoy the drive and be seen in when you arrive. So the finish has a nice gloss that looks when you take this sunshine friendly convertible out for a Sunday drive, but nothing is overly done so that you hesitate hitting the road. The shine amplified further on pieces like the chrome bumpers and complete trim. And while you want to always be open to the world, the nice black top also looks well-coordinated. So while you\'ll like that this one has the fundamentals right, also take some time to spot a few cool upgrades. There are added touches of brightwork on places like the trunk handle and engine air intake. And the shining wheel covers remind us of the Porsche 356, but they are true to Volkswagen by using the Wolfsburg crest. The back interior joins the paint and roof to create the ultra-desirable triple-black presentation. Everything looks clean and attractive, right down to the carpeted trunk up front. You\'ll even spot some nice upgrades, like the cup holders and steering wheel. There\'s a classic AM/FM radio in place just for a display, but there are upgraded speakers already in place. We like this kind of setup because it keeps the vintage vibe you want in a car like this, and it also makes it easy for you to add a separate Bluetooth tuner/amp. It all goes to the heart of the idea that this is a fun drop-top classic that loves to cruise. VW\'s standard 1600 cc flat-four was the sole powerplant, but the last few years came with an upgrade to fuel injection. This is linked to the sturdy and versatile four-speed manual transmission, which allows you to get the most out of the motor. As many VW fans already know, this is a Super Beetle. That means an improved steering box, an updated front suspension, bigger brakes, and now front discs. So for those who want to drive their classics, this is one of the nicest ways to experience a vintage VW. The final-year true Type 1s always have a place in our hearts, and this one has a true cruiser attitude. So don\'t miss this triple-black Beetle. Call today!!!
