Arizona - MesaEngine: 3.6 L Flat Six Transmission: Manual Interior Color: Black Exterior Color: Seal Gray Metallic Description: The Porsche 996 is the internal designation for the 911 model produced from 1997 until 2006. The 996 had little in common with its predecessor, with the first all new chassis platform since the original 911 and a new water-cooled engine. Technically, it was a major change, a complete breakthrough from the original car other than the overall layout. Research and development was shared with the roadster-only Boxster which was introduced around the same time, including the front suspension, various interior components, and the engine, all of which were enlarged for the 996. However, the multi-link rear suspension was derived from the preceding 993. At its debut, the 996 featured the most significant change from the classic 911 series: a water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled engine. The engine capacity was also increased to 3.6-litres across the range. Powering this Porsche is a lively 3.6-liter, high-performance 4-valve per-cylinder flat 6-cylinder engine backed by a 6-Speed manual transmission. Other major changes for 2002 included a completely new platform having a sleeker body with a more raked windshield, and a re-designed interior along with new fried egg shaped headlamps (so called due to the amber colored turn signals) instead of previous bug eye headlamps. HIGHLIGHTS Less 50,000 miles from new Unmodified, stock original car 3.6 Liter flat 6-cylinder engine 6-speed manual transmission Cold factory air conditioning Black leather interior AM/FM stereo with CD changer This well cared for cabriolet has traveled less than 50,000 miles since it was new. It has all the signs of a carefully driven original car and is believed to be wearing its original paint, top and interior that all present very well and are consistent with a low-mileage car that has been properly maintained. Inside the inviting black cockpit features such welcome amenities as heated power-operated leather seats, cruise control, power windows, power mirrors, automatic convertible top, cold air conditioning and an AM/FM stereo with CD disc changer. If you have been searching for an untouched, unmodified, clean, all factory original Porsche 911 Cabriolet, you have found it.
