A 2.6-liter inline six-cylinder engine with 110 horsepower and 136 pound-feet of torque powered the Celica Supra. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, while a four-speed automatic was available as an option. To accommodate the larger six-pot engine, the front of the car was stretched by approximately 5-inches over the standard Celica. A new Celica Supra launched for the 1982 model year powered by a new 2.8-liter inline six-cylinder churning out 145 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque and started at $14,098. Engine output would steadily climb throughout this generation\'s run to top out at 161 horsepower and 169 pound-feet of torque in 1986. A standard five-speed manual and available four-speed automatic remained as the transmission options. For consignment, one of the 2 second generation Celica Supras presently gracing our bulging overstuffed Hallowed Halls. While not much information was provided by our consignor on the history of this car or the restoration work performed, I can tell you one thing, Japanese sports cars from the 80\'s are HOT these days. With a near perfect repaint, plush cloth interior and a mere 74,948 title verified miles, isn\'t it time you added something from the Far East to your stable? Exterior Nicely applied light blue metallic straight gapped steel panels with matching crash bumpers, mirrors and badging, are straight and minding their gaps nicely. Hidden headlights increase the slipstream coefficient as well as the slightly rounded black neoprene surround encompassing the wide blacked out grille opening. All nicely sculpted with a mix of diamond edging, square and rectangle design and some rounded aerodynamic style work together to mean business and even the door handles have been designed as flush mounted to cut down on drag. Speaking of style, check out the slowly sloping roofline that dips down the hatchback style with a matte black spoiler mounted up high and a rear wiper below. On the back, integrated smoothed over edge rectangle tail lights float within a black field above another neoprene molded rounded rear bumper. Refinished 14-inch standard alloy wheels are on all 4 corners. Overall exterior presents as nearly new with no rust and only a few very small imperfections in the light blue finish. Interior Light blue broadcloth with horizontal stitched and striped blue and black in the center with smooth overstuffed racing inspired bolsters, and an integrated headrest are seen in an otherwise slate blue cloth, vinyl and molded plastic environment. These seats offer a sporty grab you but are very comfortable thanks to the 3 adjustable bolsters. Door panels use smoothed over molded plastic and vinyl in slate blue with a striped cloth inserts and show rocker switches for the power windows and locks. A factory AM/FM/Cassette sound system with a factory EQ sits just above the center console and allows you to dial in the tunes perfectly. Enough slides and switches to keep a 747 pilot occupied, are all laid out nicely on the dash and center console, which also houses the shift lever. Instruments are all original and clean and are neatly tucked under a rectangle eyebrow padded dash top in front of the driver. A shout out to the sunroof which opens by sliding back into the roof. Blue carpeting adds to the 80\'s effect and makes an appearance in the spacious hatch storage area. Drivetrain The 2.8 liter inline 6 cylinder makes an appearance under the long hood. In fact, the Supra had the nose stretched 5 longer than the standard Celica to accommodate the inliner. It can put out 168hp thanks in part to the twin cam design and EFI.
